  • Furetank launches company for trading emission reductions in shipping

The FuelEU Maritime regulation opens new pathways for the shipping industry to dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions. Swedish shipping company Furetank is now taking the lead, reducing its own emissions to a fraction through biogas operations and launching a subsidiary to help more shipping companies trade emission reductions. The goal is to accelerate the transition to fossil-free shipping.

  • Furetank achieves fossil-free vessel operations with renewable fuels

Furetank is now taking a crucial step towards fossil freedom, operating its EU-based fleet on biogas. A large-scale agreement for mass-balanced biomethane enables an immediate transition to renewable operations. New EU legislation has made it possible for Furetank to finally complete the shift it initiated a decade ago.

  • Furetank participates in historic national defense exercise

In September, Sweden will carry out its largest maritime defense drill since World War II. Furetank will participate with a tanker vessel in the exercise, which aims to test how the shipping industry and national defense together can support the country in times of crisis and war.

As we wrap up another busy week at Furetank, we’d like to say thank you for two great visits to our office. We welcomed a group of knowledgeable international journalists and shared Furetank's latest news and developing stories in sustainability, innovation and resilience. We really appreciated the thoughtful questions and genuine interest in the opportunities and challenges facing shipping today. We also enjoyed hosting our friends from the Göta Älv Club who joined us for a walk down memory lane, as we traced Furetank’s journey from the fishermen of earlier generations to today’s state-of-the-art tanker fleet. Even if our furriest co-worker got a little tired along the way... Flag flying high as we head into the weekend — and dare we hope that spring is just around the corner?

5 weeks → 6,398 km → 40 seconds. Powered by the most climate-efficient transport mode: sea freight. Follow Fure Victoria along a typical Northern European trading route, calling at @havenrotterdam @oslohavn @portofantwerpbruges @portofamsterdam Mongstad and Immingham. (And yes — the visualization app didn’t have a tanker option. Just picture a sleek Furetank vessel instead :-D ) Big thanks to Captain @ingemar_sailor for taking us along on this rapid voyage recap. #shipping #sjöfart #SustainableShipping

A true testament to the strength of our seafarers — Furetank proudly presents the winners of the 2025 Health Challenge! 🥇 1st place – Sigrid
🥈 2nd place – Fure Viken
🥉 3rd place – Fure Vyl Strong performances all around, which shows in this uplifting pic from Fure Viten. Congratulations everyone on a vital effort toward a long and healthy life! A reward is paid into each winning vessel's welfare fund. The purpose of the challenge is to promote health, overall well-being, and camaraderie on board. Everyone participates at their own level, and all types of sporting activities count, if they last more than 30 minutes and warm you up. We are now gearing up for the 2026 challenge, with fresh initiatives to encourage an active lifestyle on board. And who knows — maybe we can inspire our followers to break a sweat with us? More to come!

A yearly highlight: @sjolog at @chalmers.university – now celebrating its 20-year anniversary. We feel that shipping students grow more ambitious and curious every year! We brought along Felicia Liljeroth and Josefine Radonné who approached us at Sjölog last year, expressing their interest in joining Furetank as interns. Today, they are both sailing with us as 2nd Officers and excellent ambassadors. A special mention goes to this year’s lucky winner of our popular Furetank quiz, who walked away with a highly sought-after suitcase: Jacob Woidt. He too has completed an internship with us, so we consider this a well-deserved trophy. We look forward to welcoming many of you students on board our vessels in the years to come – turning initial curiosity into international careers. 🌊 🌍 🚢 #shipping #sjöfart #lifeatsea

We wish you all a merry Christmas by sharing with you the wonderful entries in the 2025 Furetank Gingerbread Voyage Challenge. And the winner is... Fure Vyl! Congratulations to the team on an outstanding creation, earning a well-deserved contribution to the crew leisure fund. The creativity, craftsmanship, and teamwork shown among our crews was truly impressive. Thank you to all who invested your time and enthusiasm in the bake-off, and to all of our customers and partners for great collaboration during 2025. We wish you wonderful holidays!

Our HR Director Yvonne Höglund and Personnel Manager Jonas Gunnarsson got an early taste of Christmas in the Philippines, meeting our highly appreciated crew members together with their families and our colleagues at @netshipph . We kicked things off with a officers conference, followed by a trip to Davao where Christmas was celebrated with our crew and their loved ones. Highlight of the party? Jonas going full Santa Claus for the crew’s kids 🎅 He’d better stay on the nice list — they might just be the next generation of Furetank seafarers… The visit also included a stop at the Naval Command School in Davao, interviewing first-year students, and the annual Netship audit in Manila. Thanks for having us, for fun and games, and many years of great collaboration!

The gingerbread voyage challenge is ON! To elevate the holiday spirit and team spirit (and possibly also awaken the competitive spirit), the HR department has challenged all our crews to come together and create a masterpiece out of dough and Christmas spices. Creativity over perfection! Each entry will be judged based on: Most Creative Build – for the most imaginative design Best Teamwork – for collaboration and effort People’s Choice – voted by likes from colleagues We are very much looking forward to seeing what might take shape! Let's make it bake!

Get to know Louise Torgnysdotter, Furetank’s new Chief Information Officer! “As the company’s first CIO, my role is incredibly diverse. Furetank has grown significantly in recent years. IT touches everything and is essential for progress across all areas: safety, sustainability, and marine logistics.  My first job after completing my Science in Informatics Masters degree was actually in shipping, as an IT coordinator at Broström Tankers. Since then, I’ve worked within defence and security, as IT Manager at Stena Stål, and most recently joined the electric vehicle company Polestar. I was thrilled when I was asked to come aboard Furetank. Shipping is a fascinating industry with fast decision-making and a close-knit, family-like atmosphere—the work becomes more of a lifestyle. I get to work closely with people and help connect the office and the vessels. Cybersecurity is a major priority. As a company with responsibilities within national security, we need strong contingency plans. A secure and stable IT environment is absolutely vital during a crisis.  What I enjoy most is finding the right IT solutions to meet our challenges ahead. When you work in information technology, you have to love solving these challenges—and I really do.” Thanks for joining us Louise!
