  • Furetank releases 2025 sustainability report

The Furetank Sustainability Report is now released for 2025: a defining year in the company's sustainability journey. A decade has passed since the first VINGA series vessel order, designed for a future powered by renewable fuels. In 2025, this vision was finally realised and the Furetank fleet reached the 2040 EU greenhouse gas intensity targets — a full 15 years ahead of schedule.

  • They met at maritime college — Life as a couple at sea

Josefine Radonné and Felicia Liljeroth are both newly qualified second officers at Furetank and a couple. They serve on separate vessels, spend half their time passing each other across European waters, but share coordinated schedules and make the most of their time together – and apart. They see real advantages in being a couple in the maritime industry.

  • Furetank's gender balance progress: female seafarers triple in three years

In a traditionally male-dominated industry, promoting gender balance and equality should be a priority for any shipping company. Furetank's deliberate efforts have paid off in recent years, as the number of women in their ranks has tripled. But sexual harassment and differential treatment persist within the maritime sector, as one of Furetank's female crew members attests.

  • Furetank launches company for trading emission reductions in shipping

The FuelEU Maritime regulation opens new pathways for the shipping industry to dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions. Swedish shipping company Furetank is now taking the lead, reducing its own emissions to a fraction through biogas operations and launching a subsidiary to help more shipping companies trade emission reductions. The goal is to accelerate the transition to fossil-free shipping.

Furetank is a proud sponsor of this young crew, aiming for gold at the Optimist European Championships in Gdynia, Poland this summer! Merely 13-15 years old, they are already seasoned competitors — having fought their way through 13 qualifying races to represent Sweden against young sailors from across Europe. The Optimist dinghy is the smallest racing sailboat in the world, yet the class with more sailors than any other. As the team themselves put it when they reached out to us — just like Furetank, they are not a giant, but a leader. We admire their spirit and wish @teamsweden_optieuro fair winds, following seas — and of course a medal to bring home! The best of luck to you Lovisa Axvi, Lisa Nilsson, Linnéa Wallström, Klara Ekstrand, Hugo Wallentin, Casper Ramm-Ericson & Gusten Angantyr as you @sailoptimist

After a motorcycle ride from coast to coast, we are ready to board the ferry to Visby and @almedalsveckanofficiell Lars Höglund, Donald Werner and Viktoria Höglund are representing Furetank this year. You will find us primarily at the Maritime Meeting Point, where we will be taking part in discussions on topics including… 👉 Biofuels in shipping, with @dnv_energysystems 👉 Vessel financing and insurance in an uncertain world, with @svensksjofart 👉 How to recruit and retain Swedish maritime officers, with @sjobefalsforeningen We are hoping to make new connections and explore solutions and opportunities across many more topics in the world of shipping. Will we see you in the crowd?

Naming ceremony and 40 years of vessel design collaboration celebration: the last weekend of August will be a festive one! One of our VINGA vessels will be named at the Port of Uddevalla. On 29 August, during a harbour festival, she will be opened to the public — offering a rare opportunity to come on board and experience a modern tanker from the outside in. We also celebrate the partnership between Furetank and FKAB Marine Design, starting in the 1980s. The history of the companies is closely intertwined.  "FKAB's founder vouched for Furetank when we ordered our first modern tanker. That was the start of the journey that has brought us to where we stand today. Since we know operations and FKAB knows shipbuilding, our collaboration has been a winning equation over the years", said Jonatan Höglund, Deputy CEO, Furetank.  Read more at furetank.se/news #shipbuilding #shipping #sjöfart

A new tradition is born: the annual Fure Vesborg Independence Day Fishing Contest! The crew celebrated Philippines Independence Day by competing in one thrilling category: catching the most fish. Almost the entire crew took part with great enthusiasm, resulting in a total of 116 (!) catches. Right up until the final nail-biting moments, the competition at the top was incredibly tight. The final result: 🥇Big Boss Fisher: Pumpman Rodelito Jojo Sapanghila – 35 fish 🥈Senior Fish Officer: AB Pedro Naluis – 28 fish 🥉Assistant Fish Manager: Motorman Mervin Packing - 27 fish We look forward to an annual report from the contest — we expect the catch to vary with the location, this time being Schouwenbank Anchorage. Thus, the crew will be feasting on mackerel and horse mackerel for some time to come. We hope all fellow Filipinos across the world's oceans had a wonderful Independence Day! #lifeatsea #gonefishing

Greetings from FURE VASA's maiden voyage around the world! This is her route, mapped out by Captain @ingemar_sailor . (And no, she is not a container vessel — the app didn't have the VINGA vessel option. We can't imagine why?!) She has just passed the paradise island of Mauritius, home to a rich marine life — perhaps a good moment for some dolphin spotting? After the encounter with a lone adventurer in a tiny boat on the open ocean, we are eagerly awaiting the next update from this eventful voyage...

Keel laid for VINGA Vessel No 20! Today marks a milestone for the first of three sister vessels set for delivery in 2027, ordered by Furetank Rederi. A keel laying is one of maritime tradition's oldest ceremonies — rooted in the days when a vessel was built from the keel upward, from the backbone out. A fitting moment to pause even in the busiest of shipyards. With multiple vessels under construction simultaneously, we are keeping the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard hard at work for some time yet. #shipping #sjöfart #shipbuilding #shipbuildingindustry

Final touches 💅 to FURE VASA before delivery! Today is the day VINGA vessel no 18 is handed over into #Furebear ownership. There is something special about wandering around a vessel in absolutely mint condition. Protective wrapping still in place, final paint strokes sealing the deal and all hands on deck loading the first supplies. @lars_hoglund sent us a filmed greeting from the shipyard on the Yangtze River, in the final moments before FURE VASA was delivered, up until the solemn moment of raising the blue and yellow flag. Now she is ready to start her long journey, bound for European waters and joining a growing Swedish commercial fleet. #sjöfart #shipping

As many shipping companies know: with a workforce spread across land and sea, communication and connection is a challenge. How do we ensure important company news reaches everyone? How do crews share experiences with one another? Who do they turn to when they need support, and how do we grow a sense of belonging? Furenet is one of our answers. Furetank’s new intranet bridges the distance between seafarers and shore-based team, giving everyone greater insight, influence and interaction. We share organizational info, news and employee surveys. Everyone can interact in group chats and share memorable moments in a social feed. From gingerbread contests to certification courses — we stay connected.
