A long-time fond and respectful connection, shared values, timing in life, and the passion for technical innovation and growth made Björn Stignor accept the position as CEO of Furetank. As of today October 1st, he closes a loop by returning to the roots of his maritime career in intermediate tanker shipping.
Family-owned shipping company Furetank is making a shift in management, where Björn Stignor steps into the CEO position from an international career in the Stena sphere. Former CEO Lars Höglund continues as chairman of the board, focusing on Furetank’s expansive newbuilding programme and other engagements in shipping industry and policy.
Yvonne Höglund is a certified HR specialist and the latest member of Furetank’s owner family to step into the company. She has taken on the role as HR director, bringing experience from many years in retail and other industry segments.

Furetank adds another two Vinga vessels to the order line, marking a milestone for the shipping company. Upon delivery, Furetank’s fleet will consist entirely of environmentally proven, top standard vessels with an average age of two years. ”We did our homework. This development towards sustainability has been an amazing journey”, says CEO Lars Höglund.

Furetank CEO Lars Höglund was invited to the Swedish parliament to emphasize the importance of Swedish shipping in times of crisis. Together with the Swedish shipowners’ Association and unions he demanded political action to invigorate an industry which is internationally disfavoured by national legislation.

In a time of large investments and intense development, Furetank’s board of directors has appointed Jonatan Höglund to be the company’s new Deputy CEO. This also marks the milestone of a new generation Höglund moving into top management of the family-owned shipping company.
The path that took Furetank’s business controller Wassim Salma from a war-torn Syria to a new life in Gothenburg is quite a story. Demonstrating for democratic rights he was forced to flee his home country, facing a very uncertain future. Little did he know that his job, branch of industry and hometown would all be mirrored in Sweden a few years later.

The Furetank/Algoma joint venture FureBear, together with Larsson Shipping, takes over the ownership of Algoma’s product tanker Algonorth. It has arrived from Canada to trade in Northern Europe under the new name Fure Skagen.
